History of the Ashworth by the Sea

The Ashworth by the Sea has been a Hampton Beach Landmark for over 90 years.

Opened in 1912 by Col George Ashworth, the Ashworth became the premier showplace of Hampton Beach. In 1954 the Grandmaison Family purchased this grand hotel and made many improvements over the years. The Ashworth continues to offer friendly innkeeper hospitality for all to enjoy.

After 53 years in the hotel business, The Grandmaison family sold the Ashworth Hotel to S&S Hotels out of Hooksett, NH. S&S Hotels owns 16 hotels in the New England area including four in Manchester, NH and one in Portsmouth, NH. Colwen Management Inc. manages the Ashworth by the Sea and all of the hotels owned by S&S Hotels. The Ashworth is the first full service hotel owned and managed by both companies.

From North and South Points:

Use Rt. 95 to the Hampton Toll booth

Take Rt. 101 East (Exeter Hampton Expressway)

Follow Rt. 101 east to the end - Rt. 1A - go right

Look for the Ashworth by the Sea Hotel on your right.

Park in public parking spots by the beach.
