Smuttynose Half RELAY:
Registration: Please plan to pickup your relay team packet on Saturday noon to 5 PM or Sunday before 9:30 AM.
In your packet you will find three bib numbers, batton and one timing chip. Be sure to give the timing chip to your third runner to tie securely onto their shoe,so your time and place will be recorded. All three members of your team will be able to choose a long sleeve race shirt. No individual relay times will be recorded, just your overall time.
Three relay team members walk or run the exact same course as the half marathon. Our course starts in the center of Hampton Beach- Near J Street. The start is near the famous Clamshell on Hampton beach.
The first leg runs from the start up Ocean Boulevard or Rt. 1A north and follows the course all the way to Taylor Street. On Taylor Street, at about mile 3.6 look for your team member 2 to hand off your batton.
Team Member 2 takes a very rural route through Hampton and North Hampton. After a foliage laden loop of Hampton's rural roads and neighborhoods it takes a fairly flat and rolling course into the small but picturesque town of North Hampton. Just off of the course are Fuller Gardens where you can enjoy two acres of formal flower gardens (hundreds of tulips and 2,000 rose bushes) at a turn-of-the-century estate.
This is a "loop" course where the top of the loop eventually ends back up on Rt. 1A before mile 8 on the most scenic Atlantic Ocean roads on the rocky New Hampshire coast. Enjoy unobstructed views of the Ocean first, the rocky ocean cliffs at Llittle Boars Head, a seaside promontory, that became a fashionable summer resort in the 19th century, and contains elegant examples of Victorian and Edwardian architecture. Once on Rt. 1A you will travel about 2.3 miles to the North Hampton Beach State Park - Just before Mile 10, Go left into the parking lot and look for your Relay team member 3.
Team Member - Leg 3 - the glory leg runs straight south on Rt. 1A all the way back to Hampton Beach. Following the course along the beach you wind your way into the Hampton Beach State Park and to the finish...and of course later on the Concert.
